In most cases, this is considered tone loss. You need amplification with certain sound frequencies to clearly understand those around you.
2. “I can hear in a crowd but all the words run together.”
You need help in high-frequency sound levels in order to hear in crowded areas, such as restaurants.
3. What is the cost of hearing aids?
Hearing-aid costs range from $399 each to $5,000 each. Determining factors are:

- Type of hearing loss
- Your daily environment
- Your budget

4. Does insurance cover hearing aids?
Some companies do pay a partial amount. In most cases, insurance companies only cover the cost of the examination. For those insurance companies which do include hearing aids in their coverage, a portion of the cost is paid by the customer.
5. How much does the Nu-Sound examination cost?
At Nu-Sound, the examination is free.
6. How long of a process is it to be fit?
The majority of the time, a hearing aid can be fit within a couple of hours. Adjustments can take from two weeks to two months, depending on the customer’s needs. Keep in mind, most hearing aids will need adjustments. It is not uncommon to have two to five visits after a hearing aid is fit.
7. Is there a fee for adjustments?
Service and adjustments are free as long as you own your Nu-Sound hearing aids.
8. Can a hearing aid be returned?
Oklahoma law allows customers to return a hearing aid within 30 days of purchase, less a cancellation fee, which is 10 percent of the cost of a hearing aid, or a maximum amount of $150 per hearing aid.
9. When will I know my hearing aid is properly adjusted?
There should not be any soreness on your ear when you wear your hearing aid. Sounds should be loud enough but not too loud. You should be able to understand all voices.
10. How do I know I might have a hearing loss?

Only your physician and /or hearing care professional can determine whether you have a hearing loss. The first step, however, begins with asking yourself the following questions:
|
- Does it frequently seem like people are "mumbling" when they talk to you?
- Do you often have to ask people to repeat themselves?
- Does it often seem like you miss parts or portions of words, such as "Ts", "Fs", or "Ss"?
- Are people often asking you to turn down your radio or television?
- Do you have particular trouble hearing in certain environments, such as at a party, crowded restaurant, or movie theater?

If you answer "yes" to one or more, you should strongly consider scheduling a hearing evaluation.
People with a hearing loss may experience some or all of the following problems:
|
- Difficulty hearing conversations, especially when there is background noise
- Hissing, roaring or ringing in the ears
- Difficulty hearing the television or radio at a normal volume
- Fatigue and irritation caused by the effort to hear
- Dizziness or problems with balance.
